Acan’t Forget

It’s the little things

You know how they always say the best moments happen when unplanned? I was just reminded by Timehop one of those awesome times.

Rewind to 1 year ago…

As we were starting to build our home together, one of the things that excite us is furniture shopping. We had just invested in a new set of sofa and our living room was slowly but surely coming to life and was just missing a centre table to match.

We didn’t want to spend a fortune over a new one so we went to Facebook marketplace for some secondhand items. I then found the Ikea table I was looking for for only 10 quid (versus the brand new price of 60); checked the map which wasn’t too far off, messaged the seller and immediately closed the deal. That same day, we scheduled to pick up the item and as it turns out, the actual address was not where we expected. It was far off and the roads felt like it was leading us to nowhere. I was starting to regret driving (well technically I wasn’t driving lol) all the way to their place but we then found the house and got the item; the family were just so nice and the table was like brand new so I guess it was a good deal after all. Before heading back, we also noticed that it was unusually sandy around plus there were loads of caravan around so we thought of checking where we actually were on the map which looked like a shore line. Went to drive nearer to what looked like water and lo and behold, we found this beaut.

St. Lawrence Bay

Cool winds. Relaxing sound of the rippling water. Sunset. Orange hues. Talking and laughing about random things. Everything was just perfect. The moment was just perfect. It’s moments like these that makes you just appreciate the little things that makes life worthwhile you know? And it’s these little things that make my heart so happy. :)

Wicked Monday

Sunday (8-ish, pm)

Hubby received a viber message from a friend offering tickets for a west end show – Wicked And get this: for 4 people for the price of toooot! (Sabihin na nating yung presyo ng isang ticket, naging pang apat!). We were a bit sketchy at first cause hey, it was too good to be true. But the seller was a trusted colleague so we took the offer anyway and invited two more friends (who we kept on warning that we weren’t 100% sure of the tickets yet but asked them to just be ready anyway -on call ang labanan beh).

Monday

Start of another work week. I was excited but I didn’t want to get all fired up and then later, disappointment. We haven’t physically seen the tickets yet so I was still a bit apprehensive the whole morning. At around 4pm, we took toil from work and went to the seller’s house for the ticks. Or voucher I should say.

5pm. We’ve already made it to the Apollo Victoria and exchanged the voucher. Whew! Confirmed legit finally. Lol. Texted our plus ones to start their journey. Show starts 19:30.

I’ve only ever been to a few West End shows and by far, I could easily say Wicked is there (tied with the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) on the top of my list. I’ve been belting to the song Defying Gravity for god knows how long now (feelingera much, sintonado naman lol!) and I’ve always been curious how the actual live show was. Also, The Wizard of Oz is such a classic film I wanted to see the other side of the story.

If you’re planning to watch this soon, push mo yan teh! It was really good and even the actors were amazing! I also think it would be worth to spend a bit more if you opt to get good seats. And as early as now, I can tell you I won’t mind watching the show again. I also want to give props to Alice Fearn who played the lead role Elphaba. Her voice is just so captivating it took me days to recover (honestly, not fully over it yet! Still playing it on youtube/spotify) from her version of Defying Gravity. Here’s a sample from when she performed it at Pride!

Lamyerda Diaries

Lamyerda Diaries: Oxford, Oxfordshire

So what’s up?

I’ve decided to cancel my bank shift for this weekend. I thought after all those weeks of work, I deserve some rest and relaxation.

R&R officially commenced Friday night. Hubby had boys night out, housemate Mike went globtrotting somewhere so I had the house all to myself! I did my usual thing – bubble bath, face mask, aromatherapy and relaxing spa music. Eng sherep beh. The only thing missing was a full body massage but I have yet to find a place/person who offers this at a reasonable price. Anyway, the main goal was to relax and na-achieve naman. Pak!

Saturday. The plan was to go to the beach however, I woke up really late and was actually not in the mood to move so we decided to cancel it. Out of nowhere, nagkayayaan. We ended up driving 2 hours to Oxford. I fell in love instantly. I just adore the ambiance. Plus ang daming gwapo mga veh, I kenat! Char! It just had a very chill vibe which I did not expect at first. It wasn’t as crowded as Cambridge although the buildings/structures were quite similar sans the canal. I can actually see myself living here. Add extra point cause they have a branch of Shoryu Ramen. I think the only downside will be 1) Oxford has been dubbed as one the most expensive cities to live on 2) A bit farther from Central London.

Anyway, back to Lamyerda Diaries- it was a 2 hour drive from Essex and the first spot we went to was the Blenheim Castle and gardens.

Entering the actual castle would cost £26- ang mahal mag mashie! Since were more interested in just strolling around, we opted for the park and garden tour which only cost 16 quid.

It kind of had a Kensington gardens feel but 3x times bigger! And there’s more area with a wide variety of trees plus a really huge pond/lake in the middle. Walking through the whole adult park area alone took us around 30-45 minutes. Luckily, the weather cooperated so di nakaka haggardo v.

One other feature of the place was their Pleasure Park where they house the Marlborough Maze.

After the Blenheim, we went to their high street. Knowing it was a Saturday evening, I kind of expected it to be packed but nope! Pubs/bars were packed but not as busy as a Saturday night in London (esp. Soho area).

Radcliffe Camera

Unfortunately, it was too late to enter the Christ Church Uni to see the big dining hall and stairs from Harry Potter movies so we just sat and people watched outside.

I wonder how busy the area gets on weekdays. I’m looking forward to visit again soon!
