Lamyerda Diaries: Oxford, Oxfordshire

So what’s up?

I’ve decided to cancel my bank shift for this weekend. I thought after all those weeks of work, I deserve some rest and relaxation.

R&R officially commenced Friday night. Hubby had boys night out, housemate Mike went globtrotting somewhere so I had the house all to myself! I did my usual thing – bubble bath, face mask, aromatherapy and relaxing spa music. Eng sherep beh. The only thing missing was a full body massage but I have yet to find a place/person who offers this at a reasonable price. Anyway, the main goal was to relax and na-achieve naman. Pak!

Saturday. The plan was to go to the beach however, I woke up really late and was actually not in the mood to move so we decided to cancel it. Out of nowhere, nagkayayaan. We ended up driving 2 hours to Oxford. I fell in love instantly. I just adore the ambiance. Plus ang daming gwapo mga veh, I kenat! Char! It just had a very chill vibe which I did not expect at first. It wasn’t as crowded as Cambridge although the buildings/structures were quite similar sans the canal. I can actually see myself living here. Add extra point cause they have a branch of Shoryu Ramen. I think the only downside will be 1) Oxford has been dubbed as one the most expensive cities to live on 2) A bit farther from Central London.

Anyway, back to Lamyerda Diaries- it was a 2 hour drive from Essex and the first spot we went to was the Blenheim Castle and gardens.

Entering the actual castle would cost £26- ang mahal mag mashie! Since were more interested in just strolling around, we opted for the park and garden tour which only cost 16 quid.

It kind of had a Kensington gardens feel but 3x times bigger! And there’s more area with a wide variety of trees plus a really huge pond/lake in the middle. Walking through the whole adult park area alone took us around 30-45 minutes. Luckily, the weather cooperated so di nakaka haggardo v.

One other feature of the place was their Pleasure Park where they house the Marlborough Maze.

After the Blenheim, we went to their high street. Knowing it was a Saturday evening, I kind of expected it to be packed but nope! Pubs/bars were packed but not as busy as a Saturday night in London (esp. Soho area).

Radcliffe Camera

Unfortunately, it was too late to enter the Christ Church Uni to see the big dining hall and stairs from Harry Potter movies so we just sat and people watched outside.

I wonder how busy the area gets on weekdays. I’m looking forward to visit again soon!

Bear with my video! Natamad Ako mag edit chuchu

The Grandest Showgays

From the raging heat of Tuguegarao to the bitter cold winds (with a dash of snow) of London. This is indeed true mga teh! It does still feel surreal. I remember those days when we were still praying for this. How on those random emotera nights we were planning of going to places we only just dreamed of seeing. My heart is full knowing that somehow, we are living up our dreams and achieving our life goals. Started from the bottom now still bottomesa ang peg! Charot!

Lakas maka pa rosy cheeks ni weather! Kala mo meztizahin!

Hello! I’ve been busy the last few days because of work and spending quality time with these lovely ladies. It’s such a nice feeling to have your closest friends around. Yung mga friends who saw you nung mga uligba moments mo palang. More importantly, yung friends who can match your level of craziness! Can you just stay here forever?

When we were still in college, we used to have this dream na “one day, pag nasa abroad na, pagdating sa kainan hindi na kkb. Maguunahan na tayo sa pagbabayad ng bill”. In fairness, na-achieve na namin yan!

This was not their first time to visit though. They went here last October for my beki edition bridal shower and during that time, mega clubbing pa ang mga ate. This time, even though St. Paddy’s we all just opted to go home. Tapos the next day, nag tsaa na lang ang mga tita!

I wish we can do this every week, kaso taga Ireland pa yung dalawa so keri na yung every few months or so. I am still hoping na one day, all of our barkada will reunite again. Literal na nagkahiwa hiwalay na kame ( Canada, New Zealand, US, UK, Republic of Ireland, Middle East and Pinas). I miss all the crazy things we do together and how I can laugh non stop! Possible pala yun?

#TrentanasiPerilla

It’s not everyday you find people who has the same wavelength. But hey, I found THEM!

For Daryl’s #trentanasiperilla, the initial plan was to go to New York and celebrate the Big 3-0 there. Then as the time drew nearer, no one had tickets, annual leave booked so the option was just weekend in Ireland (nearer & cheaper). But you know what they say –pag pinaplano, di natutuloy. We then just settled on going on a road trip so eventually, we decided to go to Bath (again) mainly because the birthday boy wanted to experience Thermae Bath Spa which we have been raving about.

The drive wasn’t too bad. It was only 2.5 hours away and as usual, we kept ourselves busy with music ( search my Carpool Jams playlist on spotify!) and Mo’s podcast.

When we got there, the idea was go to Thermae, then walk around but apparently the building next door was on fire (?) so for safety reasons they had to close the area. We just ate and walked around instead and planned to come back the next day. At 5-ish, we checked in then had an early lay in- very titos and titas!

Sunday. Ate breakfast, spa, lunch and before going home, had a side trip to a fancy village called Castle Combe and then fin! It’s funny how a few years ago we were pretty much hardcore. Made sure we make use of all available time to explore everything. Now, everything’s just chill. Signs of aging I guess.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Daryl! Labyu!
