Everlong

“If everything could ever feel this real forever”

Sa mga ka-probinsyana life ko jan, I’m sure you know na being so far away from kabihasnan (siyet damang dama ko yung pagka arte ng pa-conyong taglish na statement kong to), one of the disadvantages is missing out on events like mga concert ganern. As much as I love music and seing my idols perform live, di afford ng kakarampot na sahod ko bilang nurse yung luxury of traveling to Manila then siyempre anjan pa yung bibili ka ng gen ad ticket, accomodation na kaakibat ng pag push ko sa mga ganap. Siguro the only band na talagang feeling ko that time na worth it dayuhin was Incubus and then di na nasundan. Wala na sa budget lol. So when I started working here at medyo sapat naman yung kita, I promised myself na I will try to spend more on experiences over material things and that includes getting to see my music heroes live.

I clung to music for more alalay growing up. I had all these emotions and teenage rage and challenging times where music was my way of release. Whenever I felt angry at gustong magwala, rock music lang ang kasagutan. Yung ingay na tawag nila mamshie, binibigyan ako ng clarity. One of those bands that made a huge impact in my life – Foo Fighters.

Alam kong iniisip mo na ang haba na ng intro ko beh at gusto mo nang sabihin just get straight to the point. Hahaha. So yun nga, basically and gusto ko lang naman ikwento is hubby and I went to watch Foo Fighters last night and up to now, naiiyak padin ako dahil I never thought na this dream of mine (pwedeng simple, pwedeng mababaw sa iba) has finally came true. Di ko na ikwe kwento kung pano nila ako nainspire or natulungan kasi that would take forever. Pero sobrang nakakatuwa lang talaga at nakakataba ng puso na ito na yung moment na inaantay ko. Perfect si everlong. Life is good.

Gaya ng caption ko sa instagram (copy paste na kasi 2:30am na ngayon sinusulat ko to so natatamad na ang lola nyo bigla): I was just dreaming of this before and it finally happened. 3 f*cking solid hours of pure genius! Epic epic epic and by far, my best concert experience eveeeeerrrr! Literal goosebumps on every single song. And the crowd was just as incredible!”

I feel like in this lifetime, I’m lucky to have seen one of the greatest rock band of all time. Ang galing lang talaga nila promise cross my heart hope to die stick a needle in my eye.

I’m so happy din kasi I get to share this special moment with my concert buddy. Nasaksihan niya kung pano ako nakrung krung levels during the concert di nako magtataka kung iwan niya ako bigla. Charot!

Time check: 2:50. Tatapusin ko na itong magulong fan mode blog ko with this line from one of my favourite Foo song:

“Hindi hawak ng bituin ang iyong kapalaran, gabay lamang sila. Meron tayong freewill, gamitin natin ito”

Okay mali. Seriously, ito na pala yun:

It’s times like these you learn to live again

It’s times like these you give and give again

It’s times like these you learn to love again

It’s times like these time and time again

PS. Here’s the Setlist!

On Loop: Outset

I have always loved music and finding new or old tunes. I remember when I was younger, I had this massive collection of song hits which I try to buy every week and just sing and memorise as many songs my memory could accommodate; I remember listening to the radio 24/7, recording on tape a new favourite and for some cheesy moment, used it to communicate with a former love; I remember my first ever heartbreak, and how music helped me savour the pain through every piercing lyric- and how at the same time  helped heal through every electrifying beat and powerful words of encouragement. I remember how music and my passion for dancing merged and how the feeling of ecstasy flowed in my veins and made me so happy; I remember my unending quest of finding new tunes with whatever genre I could get my ears into.

Music is basically a big part of me and for some reason, I feel the need to share a piece of me through some of the music I listen to. It may reflect how I am currently feeling or I find the lyrics or tunes worth listening to. Who knows, you might also find something that creates a huge impact in your life the same way it did mine or, just something that could give you the best mood. That’ll be fun, innit?

Blindsided – Bon Iver

Taut line
Down to the shoreline
The end of a blood line
The moon is a cold light

There’s a pull to the flow
My feet melt the snow
For the irony I’d rather know

A Simple Go – Mar

& Burn – Billie Eilish, Vince Staples
